So we are finally OUT.
Saturday night was the first night we slept in our new temporary home. All day Saturday we packed, Beta's family helped us move our furniture, and we finally got the last of it to the house at around midnight.
But not before Kittie popped her head in and asked us about the bills.
And we were like.. Uh. What bills.
Cause didn't we go over this at the beginning of the month? She asked us if we planned on helping out for the electricity bill? We said no, since we planned on being out before the 15th, so why pay for an entire month we would be gone the majority? She said "Okay, then don't use the heat, Dora, Ember and I can't afford that giant bill again."
Doesn't that sound like Okay, then don't turn on the heat and you wont have to help pay?
Well, that's what we took it as.
So she was badgering us as we were loading things into the car, and we told her we'd talk about it when we were done, cause I didn't want to argue while holding a bunch of heavy shit. We ended up just packing everything and leaving for the night. She texted me almost instantly asking if we were coming back, and I told her we were tired and would stop by tomorrow at ten.
Ten came along too soon.
We showed up at the apartment, and the first thing she told us was we owed her almost $200.
$30 for last month's comcast bill, which I already paid her for in week two of this month. I remember, because it came out of my tips.
$30 for this month's comcast bill, which we don't think we should pay, because we never watched TV cause we weren't really welcomed into the living room. If anything, I'd pay far part of the internet portion of the bill, since that's all we used.
$24 for W/S/G for what I thought was this month's bill. [After speaking with the manager to clarify, we will be paying this one, and I'm good with that, since we were here for December.]
And around $100 for the energy bill. Which she said at the beginning of the month we wouldn't have to pay. And I doubt the energy bill was THAT expensive. It couldn't have been when they were being so stingy about what was being used.
As well as pay part of the damage deposit because Beta put a hole in our door. [This one we are not going to pay, because when we GOT the room, it was already severely damaged from the previous roommate, who paid the original deposit.]
She also blamed us for a patch of mold in the corner of our room that was behind our dresser. She asked us how we didn't smell it, a statement that made me stunned, because she was living in a room where every piece of furniture was COVERED in mold. And she didn't even know, because it doesn't have a SMELL. Yet we have a single small patch, and she freaks out because we couldn't smell it?! [I will be posting pictures some time in the next two days about THAT.]
A yelling match ensued. We fought hard. Mamabitch lead most of the drama, and when we told her to stay out of it, [Beta even told her to go fuck yourself :) ] she told us no, because if we didn't pay, she'd have to pay for it.
Well then, Mamabitch. Maybe you shouldn't have bought your spoiled rotten Kittie a thousand dollar camera, which she will only use for maybe two classes, then discard because she doesn't want to be a photographer, or a new violin she'll never learn to play that will just end up just gathering dust under her bed, then you might have enough to pay for things that actually matter.
Anyways. After us explaining why we didn't think we had to pay, and arguing about if I did or didn't pay her the $30 for Dec. comcast bill, and back and forth about the deposit and damages and bull shit, Mamabitch decided to drop a bomb.
"If you don't pay, we won't sign the release."
W.
T.
F.
Stunned silence.
Uh. No. Everyone already agreed to sign our release. AND LILY ALREADY MOVED IN. What did they expect US to do? Move back into that hell hole? Pay Lily's rent? FUCK NO. Out of the fucking question. It was then that I realized what they had done.
Kittie and the girls purposely didn't sign the release at the beginning of the month, or throughout the rest of the month when we were bugging them about it, and still haven't signed the release...
So they could try to pin us with all these bills.
We we're steaming. All the we're saying was how they weren't going to sign our release now, and a bunch of other bull shit. I just stood up, yelling "SHUT THE FUCK UP. WE ARE LEAVING." And we grabbed the last of our things we saw in the room, and walked out. Kittie called out as we left, "What about the keys?"
"You'll get the fucking keys when WE get OUR release!"
Then we went to the office to talk to the manager. By this point, I'm crying in frustration, and Beta can barely stand still with how angry he was. We sat down, told her what just happened, apologized for how much trouble this situation was giving her, and I cried a lot.
She asked us to break down everything, and we told her what had happened, and what we thought was a verbal acknowledgment that we wouldn't have to pay the energy bill, as well as why we thought they didn't sign the release at the beginning of the month like we had wanted, and asked, and bugged, for weeks. Told her how they were threatening to not sign the release now, even though we are fully moved out, AND the other girl was moved in.
Then she spotted Mamabitch and Kittie approaching the office. They noticed we were inside and walked away, but they did come back after we left. So we had to wrap it up, since I had work, and there was nothing we could really do at that moment.
So, yeah. That's how our first day out of the hell hole started. Fucked up, right?
And to top it all off, Orange is still a captive. I don't think we'll ever be able to get him. :<
On a happy note. We do have a cat now. <3
Her name is Piper, and we had plans to get her if we were unable to get Orange. We rescued her from a family friend, who was going to take her to the humane society if they couldn't find a home for her.
We are kinda unsure of her breed, but suspect her to be a siamese mix. She is around 4 years old, and has a notch in her left ear from fighting a bobcat, as well as a hook in her tail. She's very sweet, cuddley, and playful, and liked us pretty much instantly when we met her for the first time. She won't replace Orange, of course, but we weren't looking for a replacement when we decided to take her. We were looking for OUR cat, and she was perfect. :)
So, frustrating over all, but happy to have been able to help a friend and save a cat.
All my angry love,
Apples

I'm getting the feeling that everyone there are treating the cats like items. I've grown up with cats, and my parents still have cats, but to me they are like family members instead of something we own. That's how I view on all animals.
ReplyDeleteOf course you don't treat them like items, but it seemed like that for a bit.
God, I want to push Mamabitch down some stairs.
I know what you mean. I don't understand how someone could use a living thing like a pawn. I feel like I'm getting divorced and Orange was my kid or something. It was so stupid.
ReplyDeleteAnd so do I.
Piper kinda looks like a ragdoll to me.
ReplyDeleteShe kinda is. She's really scrawny. But she's super sweet.
